Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan
The Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan is a federal program to help individuals who have been uninsured for at least the past six months and who have been previously diagnosed with a serious medical condition enroll in the DirigoChoice Program.
As part of the Affordable Care Act, the Federal Government will pay for the claims of Individuals who meet these criteria if the claims exceed a certain amount. This allows DHA to cover more people.
The medical conditions that qualify enrollees for the Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan are:
- ALS
- Angina pectoris
- Arthritis
- Asthma/Chronic Lung Conditions
- Cancer
- Celiac Disease
- Cerebral Palsy
- Chronic Kidney Disease
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Chronic Seizure Disorders
- Cirrhosis of the Liver
- Congestive Heart Failure
- Coronary Artery Disease
- Coronary Occlusion
- Crohn's Disease
- Cystic Fibrosis
- Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease
- Depression
- Diabetes
- Eating Disorders
- Fibromyalgia
- Friedreich's Ataxia
- Hepatitis
- HIV/AIDS
- Heart Disease Requiring Open Heart Surgery
- Hemophilia
- Hodgkin's Disease
- Huntington's Chorea
- Hypertension
- Juvenile Diabetes
- Leukemia
- Lupus
- Lyme Disease
- Meningitis/Encephalitis
